Hungry Minds Educational Society

Hungry Minds is a Canadian, Non Government Oganisation (NGO) working to improve the living standards of rural Ugandan adults living in extreme poverty, through sustainable community-based initiatives.

Our vision is to be known for promoting the involvement of communities in their development through progression from learning experiences to sustainable living activities by enhancing educational initiatives that are transferable to individuals and their communities.

Hungry Minds is a demand driven initiative, taking a holistic view of learners by placing them within the context of community and partnering with their community to model sustainable development. Through Hungry Minds, learners are provided with an opportunity to come together to express concerns about things that are important to them and their community, to problem solve, to trial solutions and develop personally.

Hungry Minds links Ugandan communities with global ones through national and international volunteer workers; trainers; or experts who have developed and can demonstrate innovative sustainable development practices, related to our locally expressed needs. Experiential education and community growth are the channels used by Hungry Minds to overcome poverty.
